Built in 1931 for the Thames Conservancy by James Pollock Sons & Co Ltd "Kennet" worked on the Thames above Oxford towing dredging barges, piling rigs and delivering coal to the lock cottages. She was rescued from a scrap heap in Iver, Bucks., in 1971 and restored to her former glory. She has been on loan to the Waterways Museum at Gloucester for many years where she has been adapted to take visitors on trips around the famous docks, and also to teach people the skills of tug handling. A marine Kelvin T6 complete with Kelvin gearbox is her present engine. Kennet is a unique and beautiful tug.
